Ranch Water
Tequila, lime, Topo Chico. The most refreshing thing you can hand someone in a Texas summer, and it takes thirty seconds.

Ranch Water
Tequila, lime and mineral water, and in Texas the mineral water is Topo Chico. Nothing else has the same aggressive carbonation, which is the whole point: it stays lively to the bottom of the glass.
The traditional way is to drink half the Topo Chico, pour the tequila and lime straight into the bottle, and go. That's the correct way and I'll defend it.
Tips
- No sweetener. That's what separates ranch water from a skinny margarita.
- Topo Chico specifically. The carbonation is harder and finer than anything else on the shelf, it stays lively to the bottom of the glass, and the minerality gives blanco tequila something to sit against. Other sparkling waters go quiet halfway down and it shows.
- Espolon Blanco is the right everyday pour here.

|---|---|---|
| Flat | poured too hard or stirred too much. | |
| Harsh | more lime, and check the tequila is a blanco rather than something aged. |
