Where this stands today

No paid link is live on this site. Not one, anywhere, as this is written. If you ever find a link that earns me something and does not say so beside it, that is a mistake and I want to hear about it.

That will change: I have joined the ThermoWorks affiliate programme. When the first paid link appears it will be labelled on the page you are reading, and this section will say so rather than quietly staying as it is.

Anything a manufacturer sends me is named as such on the page where I write about it: gifted, lent or bought, whichever it was. That rule holds whether or not there is a commission attached, and it holds for kit that never gets written up at all.

This page was written before there was any money involved rather than after, which is the only time a page like this is worth anything.

If a link pays

It says paid link next to it, every time, on the page you are reading rather than in a footer you would have to go looking for. It also carries the markup that tells search engines it is paid. If a page has one, a line at the bottom of that section says so.

What that buys

A commission if you buy something. It costs you nothing extra.

What it does not buy

A place on the list. Kit is recommended here because I own it and use it, and the recommendation is written before anybody checks whether there is a link to be had. If the honest answer is "the cheap one is fine", that is what it will say. If something I have recommended turns out to be bad, the page gets rewritten and the link comes off.

Gifts and samples

If a bag of coffee or a piece of equipment arrives free, the write-up says so in the first paragraph, and the rating is the rating. Nothing gets a better review for having been free. Nothing is written about in exchange for being sent it.

Sponsorship

None. If that changes, a sponsored piece will be labelled sponsored at the top, and it will not be a recipe: recipes here are not for sale.

Restaurants

Every place written about under Places was paid for by me, as a customer, with no notice given that anything was going to be written. If that is ever not true of a particular place, that place's page will say so.
