Cookies and counting

Not legal advice. This says what the site actually does, in plain words, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If you need it to be more than an honest description, have somebody qualified read it first.

There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, nothing that follows you to another site. What is left is the short list below.

The cookies

Your sign-in

Set when you sign in, cleared when you sign out. It is what keeps you signed in between pages. Without it an account would be impossible.

Signing in with Google

A short-lived cookie that exists only while you are being handed back and forth with Google, to make sure the reply is the one that answers your request. It is deleted the moment you land.

Light or dark

Which theme you chose. Stored in your own browser, never sent anywhere. Clearing it just means the site follows your system setting again.

Counting

Page views are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookie and builds no profile. It records that a page was loaded, roughly where from, and what kind of device — never who. There is no way for me to look up what any one person read, which is the point.

What other people's things do

An embedded YouTube video is loaded from YouTube's no-cookie domain, which still means YouTube sees the request when a video plays. Turnstile, the anti-spam check on sign-up and the contact form, sets nothing that persists.

Turning it off

Block cookies for this site and everything except signing in still works. There is no wall, no nag, and no degraded version.
