Moscow Mule
Vodka, ginger beer, lime, in a copper mug because it keeps it colder than glass does.

Moscow Mule
Three ingredients and one real decision: the ginger beer. A sweet, mild one makes a soft drink; a proper spicy one makes it worth drinking. Buy the kind that bites.
The copper mug isn't only for looks. Copper takes the cold from the ice fast and holds it, so the drink stays colder longer than it would in glass.
Tips
- Ginger beer, not ginger ale. Ginger ale makes a sweeter, flatter drink.
- Fresh lime. The bottled stuff is the difference between a good mule and a bad one.
- Whiskey instead of vodka is a Kentucky mule, and with a peaty scotch it's a different drink entirely.

If it's not right
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Sweet and flabby | the ginger beer is too mild, or you skipped the lime. | |
| Thin | not enough ginger beer, or it went flat from stirring too hard. |
